How To Tackle SSB Interview...????????

My dear Future officers;

If we consider the selection ratio (recommended candidate to appeared candidate) and number and nature of tests conducted at SSB; it will be one of the most difficult interviews in the world. The uniqueness about SSB is that it is rare knowledge. We cannot guarantee that even those who work in armed forces know everything about SSB Interview. It is much classified (Top secret) subject.

SSB Interview is not like other interview where you can mug up some details and qualify.  To Qualify SSB Interviews Very careful planning along with strict & efficient implementation of that plan is absolutely essential.

 SSB PLAN IS PERSONAL PLAN AND NOT GENRAL PLAN THERFORE EVERY INDIVIDUAL MUST PLAN YOUR CHARACTER AND PERSONALITY SHOW AT SSB.

I hope following mention guidelines will show you the way out of difficult situations.

{These guidelines may appear simple or something that you already know, but let me remind you that  only these minute points make all the difference between a recommended candidate and conference out candidate. You should always have these points at the back of your mind before you perform any act at SSB.}

1.    YES I CAN ATTITUDE (NEVER GIVE UP):             Positive attitude must be reflected in your talk & walk. Many times I observe that most of the candidates leave hope of success even before half the tests are over. In screening, many candidates leave hope when they finish their intelligence test before even hoping that they can turn the tables in PPDT test. In phase two candidates slowly give up as they continue appearing for psychological tests, GTO and personal Interview. The effect of this negative attitude reflects in upcoming tests; there by reducing chances of success even more.

2.    BE YOURSELF:           As I already mentioned in earlier article that almost 98% candidate go for some form of coaching or guidance for SSB. No doubt that coaching is must for SSB but we must find out why 98 % of candidates fail repeatedly in SSB even after coaching. The reason is that, these candidates are lazy and they do not try to personalise their preparation and continue copy whatever the coach has taught. You must remember that before you, there are hundreds of students that are taught same thing in classes thus assessors can easily identify whether you are coached or natural. Therefore it is very much essential to introduce some unique features to your replies at SSB in all tests.

3.    LEGIBLE HANDWRITIING AND SPEED:           You are going to be Class I, Central Govt., Commissioned and Gazetted officer in INDIAN ARMED FORCES. It is expected out of you that you must possess readable and clean handwriting. You are going to appear for psychological test and group planning exercise where clarity of your thought must be expressed within given time limit.

      Therefore you must have enough writing speed to complete all test within given stipulated time.

4.    DON’T INVOLVE IN ANY KIND OF MISCHIEF OR MISBEHAVIOUR AT SSB CENTRE:              It is request that please don’t involve any unsocial activity or misbehaviour during your stay at SSB centre. There are many cases in which candidates have lost their candidature due to such reasons.

5.    DON’T FORGET YOUR AIM:           At SSB centre candidates are exposed with a lot of distractions like New friends , New places to visit in city, Games like Table Tennis , Carrom, etc., Sports like Basketball, Football etc. but it is requested that they should not forget that they are there to get recommended first. Once you are recommended, you are free to play variety of sports in Training Academies. So it is advised to prepare first yourself for next day then have some time free for playing with your colleagues; especially with you activity group.

7.    COMMUNICATION SKILLS:            As an officer and soldier, you are supposed to lead your troops to victory. Your communication skills are very much essential for motivating your men. Communication skills here mean clarity of thoughts, Use of appropriate words, Commanding voice, Confidence in speaking. These qualities are tested in psychological tests, G.T.O. & Personal Interview at every stage. I will rather say the candidate with good communication skills has very good advantage over other mediocre candidates provided he speaks right things at right time.

8.    TAKE ENOUGH REST:           Don’t overexert yourself during interview time. Make it a point that you are having enough rest every day. If you don’t take proper rest; it affects your metabolism & therefore your mood thereby resulting in reducing performance drastically  especially in psychological tests and interview.

9.    KNOW YOUR STRENGH & WEAKNESSES:           You must know what you can do & what you can’t? Don’t take it as pessimistic remarks. Look at it in very rational perspective. You must do your SWOT (Strengths-Weakness-Opportunities-Threats) analysis to concentrate your effort on things that you can do better. You can avoid things which are less imp & difficult for you to understand. But things which are imp from SSB perspective and difficult for you; you must take them seriously and practice them to perfection

10.  CONTROL YOUR EMOTIONS:            This perhaps the most common mistake every failed candidate repeats every time. Basic problem with all candidates are FEAR OF FAILURE, OVEREXCITEMENT, LOSS OF TEMPER & NERVOUSNESS. It is essential for candidate to calm & motivate himself to reach success. Never do hurry in writing, speaking or performing any act in overexcitement. So motto is THINK BEFORE YOU ACT. You must remember uncontrolled emotions are weakness whereas controlled emotions is your power. This is perhaps the most important and most difficult to implement advice in this article.
